Borden Food/Prince Pasta
In March 1997, it was announced that Borden Food Corporation would close their Lowell Prince Pasta plant, which opened in 1939. After considerable efforts, Senator Kennedy obtained $1 million in federal funding from the US Department of Commerce that enabled Boston Macaroni to purchase the company, saving 400 jobs.
