Northeast Missouri felt the impact of Senator Kennedy's caring heart during the Christmas season of 1985. Farmers were losing their family farms in record numbers. No remedy could be found for the economic crisis and people from around the state assembled for a forum in Memphis, MO and Senator Kennedy was invited - and he came. Teddy, Jr., Patrick, and Mark Shriver were along and stayed the night in a farm home and participated in the Christmas festivities of the little town the next day. I wonder if you remember. The hope he brought to despairing people has never been forgotten. The word "champion" emerged in our thoughts and we know firsthand the caring heart of Senator Kennedy. He knew the true meaning of Christmas.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. God Bless you all.
